it is important you know before you decide to take the course. You need to know
this information before you begin your real estate career efforts.
_____ I understand that there will be no refunds. Please do not take the course if you are not certain that you can finish. Course must be paid in full at the start. There is no payment plan.
______ I understand that taking a distant learning course requires being a serious student capable of adequate self-motivation and having a willingness to devote the time required to master the material.
______ I understand that I will be expected to put in about 180 hours of study to secure a reasonable grasp of the material required to pass the state real estate exam. This constitutes the 90 hours you would spend in a classroom at a live class and at lease one hour study at home for each hour of classroom instruction. Many educators suggest that you should spend three hours of home study for each classroom hour. The 180 hour minimum is very optimistic. If you cannot allocate this amount of time during the six months, you should not take any distant learning course. You may need to attend a live course to succeed (no matter how convenient a distant learning course may appear to be).
______ I understand that I need to finish the course within 180 days. This is a requirement of the OREC. Please plan ahead and schedule enough time to finish the course in the time allowed.
_______ I understand that I will not be cleared to take the exam in Oklahoma City until I pass: (1) each of the chapter tests with a score of at least 75%, (2) return all the chapter homework assignments fully completed, (3) pass the 300 question final exam also with a score of at least 75%, and (4) complete the 40 question Math Final Exam. (Note: it is required that you complete the homework assignments!)
_______ I understand that this is a distant learning class and not a one-on-one tutorial school. If you need personal explanations to many questions in order to learn, you should attend a live classroom school. There is no phone support. Check the online FAQ and many support materials for added clarifications. This is a self-study and not a tutorial program.
_______ I have read this OREC Disclosure:: This course is the Basic Course Part I. It prepares you for the Provisional Sales Associate license exam. You will have to attend a second 45-hour “Post License” school (Part II) within a year to be upgraded to a full sales associate with a renewal license. This is true of all schools.
_______ I understand the Post License course cannot be simply 45 hours of Continuing Education. The Post License school must be approved as such and have a final exam with a passing score of 75%. I cannot simply take a series of Continuing Education seminars and think it will count towards my 45-hour post requirement. It will not!
_____ I understand that a Provisional Licensee may not begin taking such course until the Commission has ISSUED the Provisional Sales Associate license. I must also wait until my provisional license expires to be upgraded to full sales associate. This is true even though I have finished the Post license course early. I will still have to serve my Provisional license period before becoming a full sales associate.
_______I have read this OREC Disclosure: “If you have been convicted, of any crime, or if charges are pending, (or if you have unpaid child support or unpaid student loans in default), please check with the Commission before enrolling in any real estate license class. The Commission will allow you to seek pre-approval before spending any money on a real estate school.”
